Our Ministry of Worship

The Worship of Almighty God is at the heart of all we do at First Church.  The basic pattern of worship is rooted in scripture and our United Methodist heritage.  Our worship reflects a diversity in style but is always designed to provide an encounter with the living God through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.  When the people of God gather, the Spirit is free to move them in diverse ways according to their needs.  The people come together in prayer and praise.  They depart refreshed, renewed, and empowered for ministry with the Lord’s blessing.

Sunday Services
Weekly services are held from 8 to 9AM(with communion) and from 11AM to noon (10 to 11AM during the summer).  We also have a modern worship service called "Breakthrough" which is held in Founder's Hall every Sunday evening at 6 PM.

Breakthrough

Our modern worship service begins each Sunday evening at 6 PM.  It is held in Founder's Hall.  Worship is led by the "Breakthrough" Praise Band, with preaching/teaching by Dr. Sterling.

Child Care
Child care is provided for preschool children at the 11AMservice.

Holy Communion
Communion is served each Sunday at the 8:00AM service. It is also served at the 11:00AM (10:00AM, Summer) service on the first Sunday of each month.

Baptism
Baptism is administered to persons of all ages because it represents initiation into the body of Christ and the incorporation of the individual into Christ's acts of salvation. It is celebrated as part of the regular Sunday morning worship service upon arrangement with the church office and the pastor.

Ecumenical Noontime services and luncheons are held on Thursdays during Advent and Lent.

Special Services are held on Christmas Eve, the first Sunday of Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Thanksgiving.  We share in the Good Friday service conducted by the Warren Area Ministerial Association.
